The White Widow Strain is one of the most popular ones in the world, and it is a mixture of the South American sativa and the South Indian indica. While its origin is not known precisely, it was first developed by the Green House Seeds Coffee Shop in Amsterdam.
Over the years it became more and more popular and won multiple prizes, but the creators of this strain split up. Some of them got together later on and re-created the strain naming it the Black Widow.
The plant grows about 1 meter tall if it’s held inside and up to 2 meters if it grows outside. So this means that it can be easily grown at home. Even though it can flourish in colder climates too, it still needs plenty of light. When grown inside, it can result in around 500 grams per square meter, while the outside grown plant can offer up to 600 grams. And this is quite a lot!
Moisture and fertilizers should be kept low, and it does grow better in a warmer climate. For the best flavor and potency, the plant should be harvested after 10 weeks with not much maintenance. But depending on certain variables, it can be ready after 56 days as well.
It is named the White Widow Strain thanks to its resin gland content and color, and it is also used to increase the potency of other strains. Some other strains created from the White Widow include the White Rhino, the White Russian or the Blue Widow.
Flavor
The flavor is clean, fresh and will remind you of pine, while on the exhale you will get a hint of citrus. These are just subtle, and the aim of this strain was not to offer a strong flavor. The smoking experience is fresh and invigorating.
Effects
The White Widow Strain is very potent and offers immediate results. It has an uplifting effect and will offer a cerebral wave in the head of the smoker. You will initially get feelings of energy and euphoria, with an increase in creativity. But later on it can give sleepiness and the desire to get a nap.
The level of THC is quite high (around 25%), making it suitable for medical conditions such as pain in the back, muscles or neck, as well as sciatica and muscle spasms. The White Widow Strain can also have beneficial effects for those suffering of fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis and peripheral neuropathy.
It is also known to reduce nausea and to increase the appetite. This can be highly beneficial for those suffering from cancer, HIV or anorexia. It will increase their appetite, allowing them to regain some weight and a bit more health. And last but not least, it has good effects against stress, anxiety and depression.
Side Effects
There are few known side effects of the White Widow Strain, and they include a dry mouth or dry eyes. But these can be easily solved by drinking plenty of water before and after smoking it, and by using moisturizing eye drops after the usage.
